A Toronto native, Rob grew up playing competitive hockey as a defenceman in the GTHL. Following his final year of minor hockey, Rob was drafted in the 6th round of the 1999 OHL Bantam Draft by the Belleville Bulls. He began his junior career in the OPJHL with the Caledon Canadians and Oshawa Legionnaires from 1999-2000, then playing in the OHL for the Belleville Bulls, Sudbury Wolves and Soo Greyhounds from 2000-2003. Also during that time, Rob played in the NOJHL for the Rayside-Balfour Sabrecats helping them win both the NOJHL and Ontario Championship titles in 2002 advancing to the RBC Cup. After Junior, Rob continued his career playing CIS hockey while attending Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo from 2003-2008.
Over his five years at school he helped the Goldenhawks qualify for the CIS National Championships on two occasions (2006 & 2007) and was twice voted an OUA West First Team All-Star in 2007 and 2008. Following university, Rob first travelled south to pursue a professional career playing in the ECHL for the Phoenix Roadrunners and in the CHL for the Rapid City Rush and Tulsa Oilers, then moving overseas to Europe playing in the top divisions in Holland and France. |

Coaching Experience:
When Rob retired from hockey in 2011 he quickly became involved in coaching. Beginning his coaching career in minor hockey, with the Sudbury Wolves Major Bantam AAA team, he served as an assistant coach for the 2011-12 season.
Rob would later relocate to Windsor, Ontario, where he joined the University of Windsor Lancers Men’s Hockey Program of the OUA as assistant coach at the CIS level. The Lancers won the 2014 Queen’s Cup Championship that season, and represented Ontario at the CIS National Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. |
While living in Southwestern Ontario, Rob gained additional coaching experience as an assistant coach for the Junior C Lakeshore Canadiens of the PJCHL. He would also learn valuable teaching skills while working at Proven Performance Hockey Academy and running elite prospect camps at R3 Hockey.
Since moving back to Sudbury, Rob has returned to minor hockey as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 Nickel City Sons Minor Peewee AAA team and as head coach of the Sudbury Wolves Major Peewee AAA team for the 2018-19 season. During the 2019-2020 season Rob was coaching in the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association and now continues in 2021 with the Laurentian Voyageurs women's hockey program. |
